Stuart Sharp, Professor Emeritus, maintains a voice studio and teaches the French Diction class. A recent former Chairperson of the Hope Music Department, he holds degrees from Bucknell University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Kentucky.
His performance credits include work in opera, chamber music, and oratorio and he has served as president of the Michigan chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Other responsibilities have included service as Chair of the Music Section of the Michigan Academy of Arts Science and Letters, member of the Task Force on Music in General Studies, and member of the Advisory Board of the GLCA New York Arts Program.
He has also served the National Association of Schools of Music as a member of the Board of Directors and as Chair of Region V. His scholarly pursuits have been in the areas of nineteenth-century French opera and in musical aesthetics.
