High Energy Quadruple Magnets and the Analyzing Magnet

At the high-energy end of the accelerator, there is a standard quadrupole doublet for focusing, a second 500 L/sec turbomolecular pump, followed by a water-cooled analyzing magnet. The main process control station is located under the HE quads, and the entire assembly is shown in the above figure. The polarity of the analyzing magnet is manually controlled, and everything else past the ion source is controlled electronically from the main console.
