Lou Jisonna, Jr.

My interests cover a wide range of experimental nuclear physics including my previous work in nuclear astrophysics reactions on proton-rich nuclei using radioactive ion beams. Currently, as a member of the Hope College Nuclear Group with Paul DeYoung and Graham Peaslee, we are studying heavy-ion reaction studies on neutron-rich unstable nuclei with the MoNA collaboration at the National Superconductiong Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University and with researchers at Notre Dame. We are also using ion beam and particle-induced x-ray emission techniques with the Hope College accelerator for a number of interdisciplinary studies that have applications in forensic and environmental science, geology, and chemistry. A major focus of our group is on training and working with undergraduate students throughout the academic year.
