Dr. James
Allis
Dr. Allis has been a Professor in the Philosophy Department since 1986. His main areas of interest include Ancient Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, Political Philosophy, and Existentialism. His research interests include legal pragmatism, original intent in the law, and a project on learning, teaching, and knowing. He has been involved with off-campus study programs in Colorado, Oregon, and Wyoming. Dr. Allis and family currently reside in Holland, where they enjoy running, kayaking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. Dr. Allis received the Hope Outstanding Professor-Educator Award in 1990.
