Dr. Dickinson is a visiting professor at Hope.  He earned B.A. degrees in political science and German from Washington State University in 1994, M.A. degrees in political science and German from Bowling Green State University in 1999, and a Ph.D. in political science from Purdue University in 2004.  He is fluent in both Dutch and German, and has extensive experience conducting research in Germany and South Africa. 

At Hope, Dr. Dickinson teaches courses on Western European politics, with an emphasis on the Netherlands and Germany, as well as the politics of immigration in the United States.  His other areas of expertise include South African politics and the comparative politics of immigration in the United States, South Africa, and Germany. Dr. Dickinson has also been a faculty advisor to Model United Nations and the Hope Democrats.
