From our Chairperson:
The Psychology Department takes a three-pronged approach to educating our majors. First, we teach students the basic theories and research methodologies in psychology. Much of this happens in the classroom, but it also occurs in one-on-one discussions with students outside of the classroom, in laboratory experiences, in independent studies, and in other assignments. Second, we provide our students practical experiences through practicum and internship courses. Finally, Hope psychology faculty actively involve students in research, which can result in student co-authorship of research presentations and publications (in fact, for six consecutive years at least one Hope student has won an award for undergraduate research)! These three prongs combine to provide our majors with an excellent preparation for work, graduate study, and life. For more information about the Psychology Department, browse the links
