3. Ancient Middle Eastern Creation Stories
The biblical writers drew from legends, stories, and literary materials that were part of the larger ancient Middle Eastern cultural environment when they constructed the Israelite accounts of creation. Some of the surviving creation material includes the Egyptian creation theology, the Atrahasis Epic, and the Enuma Elish.
