C. Notes to ReadersAll translations of the Hebrew Bible included in the body of the text are the author's, unless otherwise noted. Gender-inclusive language is used throughout the textbook, but not when referring God in the translations and discussions. The author acknowledges the ungendered nature of God and in principle endorses the use of inclusive language, but the translations here strictly follow the original text, which used male-gendered forms in reference to God. Let the reader make the transition to the God who transcends gender. Apart from references to the deity, inclusive language is elsewhere used where appropriate when translating the text. The spelling of personal and place names follows the NEW REVISED STANDARD VERSION of the Bible.
The following notes contain suggestions for how students and teachers can benefit from using RTOT and its accompanying CD.
