About the Sociology & Social Work Department

The Department of Sociology and Social Work, located in Van Zoeren Hall, provides students with a variety of courses in two major areas. The sociology major prepares students who plan to enter graduate or professional school in the disciplines of sociology, law, urban planning, the ministry and numerous other professions as well as students intending to enter business. The social work major is a professional degree that is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Its principal objective is to prepare students for beginning level, generalist social work practice.
