Major at Hope: Chemistry

What do you find exciting or interesting about your major?

I like the fact that chemistry offers a wide range of opportunities in regard to career paths. I also like it that there are so many areas for exploration in this field.

What are your career plans at this time?

After completing my undergraduate degree, I would like to pursue an advanced degree related to chemistry. My career path that I am interested in is working for the US government.

Describe your summer research project.

I'm working with Dr. Kenneth Brown on a project that involves studying new electrode surfaces, known as chemically modified macroporous electrodes, and their electrochimical properties.

What are some of your favorite activities outside of your school work?

Ouside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, cooking, reading, and being with friends and family.

What were some influences on your decision to attend Hope?

I like the fact that Hope has a reputable chemistry program, it's a Christian college, and it's not too big. I also enjoy the atmosphere of Holland where Hope is located.
