Hope College Scholarships for Science,
Engineering, and Mathematics
Hope College is offering eight
scholarships for students transferring from a community college who are
planning to complete a major in science, engineering, or mathematics.
Qualifications: These scholarships are open to students
who have completed two years of study at a community college, who are
United States citizens or permanent residents.
Criteria: The following are the selection criteria
that will be used for these scholarship:
- Preparation to enter study in one of the science disciplines at
Hope College.
- Intention to complete a degree in one of the science disciplines
(Biology, Chemistry Computer Science, Engineering, Geological and
Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics). This includes programs
with these majors that prepare for secondary education and pre-health
professions.
- Demonstrated financial need.
Benefits: Recipients of the S-STEM Scholarship will
be awarded the following:
- A scholarship in the amount of their demonstrated financial need
up to a maximum of $10,000 per year for two years. This scholarship will be in addition to any other aid the recipient might receive. All transfer students with a GPA of 3.8 or higher at their previous institution qualify for a $5,000 per year merit scholarship.
- A paid summer research position at Hope College during the summer
of 2009.
- A number of special activities and benefits to assist in making a
successful transition to Hope, including a special orientation session,
additional faculty advising and counseling, and access to peer mentors.
