Mark Amenta
Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre

Mark is an instructor, director, actor, and writer working in West Michigan
and Chicago. For Hope, Mark has taught various acting classes for the
Theatre Department, as well as the theatre component of the IDS course, Arts
for the Elementary Teacher. He has also taught theatre classes for Grand
Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. Mark served as
the Arts Coordinator for the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District for
two years, and continues to teach workshops for the VSA Program for the
developmentally disabled and for K-12 schools throughout West Michigan.

Mark writes and directs K-5 curriculum-based musicals for Face to Face
Productions in Chicago. He is on the Board of Directors of Actors' Theatre
of Grand Rapids, and has appeared in several productions with Actors'. Mark
is a frequent contributor to the theatre's Living on the Edge ten-minute
play series, and has had several of his scripts produced.

  • M.F.A. in Stage Direction from the University of Minnesota
