The Department of Theatre is accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) since 1991.

Every year, the Hope College Department of Theatre joins more than 600 colleges from around the country in participating in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). KCACTF encourages, recognizes, and celebrates the finest and most diverse work produced in college and university theatre programs. Each production at Hope is registered with KCACTF and our students are exposed to outside feedback by a college theatre professor.
In early January, Hope College students and faculty attend the Region III festival along with over 1,300 students from colleges in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois.
The festival provides and opportunity for students to converse and work with peers from schools in their region, display their own work, view productions from around the region, and earn certificates of merit and scholarships through the skills they have learned through their degree program.
