Chapel Choir

The Chapel Choir was organized in 1929 and began touring annually in 1953. In addition to touring extensively in the United States and Canada, the choir has toured Europe six times, most recently in France and the Netherlands. In May 2009 the choir toured South Africa. 

The Hope College Chapel Choir is a 37-member SATB Ensemble. Composed of students across various majors, the Chapel Choir is united by their love of music and commitment to communicating stories.

The program presented this spring is a collaborative project, curated by professors Eric Reyes (music), Kara Brems (dance) and Dr. Pablo Peschiera (English). A variety of musical genres will be performed with movement and will be weaved together through dramatic readings to communicate a message of hope and perseverance. We are excited to present this program to you! Program will include selections such as:

Symphonic Orchestra

The 32-member Symphonic Orchestra tours annually to different parts of the United States. The ensemble is selected each year from the larger 80-member college orchestra. Through the Symphonic Orchestra, the music department of Hope College is able to offer concerts to church and school communities some distance from its campus, and at the same time afford its more proficient players an unusual opportunity for group participation and concentrated study of musical styles.

Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group open to all students regardless of their major and typically performs 6–10 times a year. The group performs repertoire from a variety of eras and tours every other year. The Wind Ensemble recently completed recording for a CD project, which included Wagner’s “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral,” Ticheli’s “Angels in the Architecture” and other works.
