STUDY SKILLS TUTORING
Many students find that, in making the transition
from high school to college, or from lower- to upper-level
classes, they need advice about studying. One-on-one appointments
with an ASC professional are available for advice on the following:
Goal Setting and Motivation
Time Management
Textbook Reading/Studying
Note Taking
Test Preparation/Test Taking
ACADEMIC ADVISING AND COACHING
ASC staff members are available to meet and talk with students
about any question or concern relevant to their
college academic experience.
Students may also elect to meet with an ASC staff member on
a regular basis for academic coaching. Academic coaching is a
comprehensive support service for students who want to improve
their academic and self-management skills. The content and structure
of each individual coaching session is determined cooperatively
by the student and the coach. The coach assists the student in
developing plans of action - and holds him/her accountable -
to achieve results.
PRESENTATIONS AND WORKSHOPS
Hope faculty and staff may also arrange study
skills workshops or presentations for specific groups or classes.
DISABILITY SERVICES
The ASC coordinates the provision of academic support services
for students with documented disabilities. Students who have a
documented disability, or those who suspect that they may have
a learning disability, should schedule an appointment with the
Coordinator of Academic Support Services for Students with Disabilities
to discuss their concerns. Click
