Reasons to Seek Counseling

Counselors are available to meet with all degree seeking students concerning a wide variety of issues or to simply consult with about decisions they are facing or how to help a friend who is struggling. Some of the issues dealt with in counseling include:

  • Alcohol and other drug use
  • Being more decisive
  • Coping with anxiety and/or stress
  • Coping with loss
  • Depression
  • Just need someone non-judgemental to lend a listening ear
  • Eating Disorders
  • Expressing feelings clearly and honestly
  • Family crises
  • Future decisions
  • Gaining confidence
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Mood swings
  • Sexuality issues
  • Time management
  • Trauma from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse/assault

Counseling is available free of charge to all degree seeking students at Hope College.
