Off-Campus
Study
DURING THE ACADEMIC
YEAR
If you are considering
enrolling in an off-campus
study program during the academic year and wonder how your financial
aid might be impacted, it is important to be aware of the following:
- You are typically eligible to receive your financial
aid (see exceptions noted in numbers 3 and 4 below)
for both international and domestic off-campus programs
if they are considered official programs of Hope College
(i.e., you are considered enrolled at Hope while participating
in the
program and you are billed by Hope College Business Services for
such enrollment),
- Federal Work
Study (FWS) funds are not available
to you in the semester/year
during which you enroll off-campus . You may want
to consider applying for additional loan funds to cover the loss
of this work resource if you were awarded FWS.
- If you are the recipient of a Hope College
merit award (awarded to you as an incoming student through the Admissions
Office, the Distinguished Artist Award program, or the National Merit
Scholarship Corporation) and/or recipient of Hope need-based aid, you
may use these funds for two (2) semesters in off-campus program enrollment.
- The Hope College
Tuition Waiver, the GLCA Tuition Waiver, the Creative Dining Service
Scholarship, and the Alumni Tuition Discount
represent employee/graduate benefits and are subject to their own unique
off-campus study policies. Contact the Office of Financial
Aid for more information.
- Federal SMART Grant recipients should check with the
Office of Financial Aid about whether the grant can be applied toward
off campus study programs.
If you need
assistance in addition to the financial aid you are currently
receiving, you may be eligible to apply for additional
loans.
