Homeownership is an indicator of educational level, crime and neighborhood stability. Given the same income and length of residence, children of homeowners are 25% more likely to graduate from high school and 116% more likely to graduate from college than children of renters. They are less likely to be arrested, and they have fewer teen pregnancies (Boehm and Schlottman cited in The Crisis in America's Housing).
