Services

Hope students who are currently registered for classes may use the Hope Health Center to meet their medical needs. The Hope Health Center is staffed Monday through Friday by a Physician Assistant and Registered Nurses. Students may be seen for any health concern. Appointments may be made by calling 395-7585. Students concerened about the need for care after Hope Health Center hours may call the after hours physician at 1-888-383-8232. Medical emergencies should be directed to 911 or sent directly to the Holland Community Hospital Emergency room.

The Hope Health Center staff may refer students into on-campus physician clinics one morning a week. Area physicians, including a pediatrician, internist, and family practice physicians rotate through. Referrals to specialists within the community can be made by the Hope Health Center staff when more specialized care is required. Women's health exams are available by our Physician Assistant and/or monthly gynecologist. These exams may include annual pap smears, breast exams and screening for sexually transmitted infections if indicated.

The Hope Health Center has the capability of providing on-site testing for several acute illnesses. Hope students are able to receive lab services through the Hope Health Center without the need to leave campus. Complete laboratory services are coordinated with the Holland Community Hospital Lab.

Tuberculosis skin testing and immunizations are available to Hope students. These immunizations include.

  • Tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis
  • Gardasil/HPV Vaccine
  • Influenza vaccine
  • Hepatitis A vaccine
  • Hepatitis B vaccine
  • Meningococcal vaccine

Fees

The 2006/2007 HopeHealth benefit has a maximum of $1,000.00 in health care costs per year through the Hope Health Center. The Hope Health Center staff will bill the HopeHealth benefit directly. You may see the HopeHealth benefit heading for specific information concerning coverage under this plan.

Students who do not have the HopeHealth benefit, or who have used their maximum benefit, will have visit charges applied to their student account. Students may ask for a statement at the time of service so that they may submit their charges to their own insurance company. The Hope Health Center is not able to directly bill individual insurance plans.
