H1N1 (Swine) Flu Announcement

The Hope Health Center is monitoring the H1N1 flu that is affecting people around the world. We are asking that all students, faculty and staff take personal responsibility to help prevent illness and follow the college illness guidelines provided. We have provided links to Hope College policies, as well as local, national and world wide health agencies for the most current information.

Should you have any questions you may contact the Hope Health Center at 616-395-7585 or your medical care provider.

Flu-like illnesses have hit Western Michigan. To get a clearer picture of what is happening at Hope College, the health clinic staff is asking Students, Staff and/or Faculty to self-report their symptoms. Information submitted will be confidential and used only for number purposes. The information needed includes: Name, Address, Date symptoms began. If recovered, the date of recovery. List of symptoms that you experienced. It would be helpful to include any major group activity that you are involved with; such as an athletic sport, a musical group, student teacher, etc.

Self-reports may be sent to healthclinicvirus@hope.edu. Please note: This site is for self-reporting only. Students who need medical care need to call the health center at x7585. Staff and Faculty should contact their health care provider.

The Health Center is out of the Seasonal Flu Vaccine and we are not expecting to receive any more. We are also no longer administering the H1N1 Vaccine to students. If more of this vaccine becomes available we will let students know. We highly encourage students who are able to get either of these vaccines elsewhere to please do so.
