Mission StatementThe Mission of the Hope Health Center is to assist students in achieving their academic and life goals by promoting and maintaining the health of the student population. In addition the Hope Health Center seeks to provide students with the knowledge necessary to establish life long patterns of health optimizing behaviors. To accomplish this goal the Hope Health Center provides a variety of both direct care and educational services. The Hope Health Center directs its efforts at both individual students and the campus community as a whole. Services include the provision of primary health care services, including diagnosis and management of minor acute illnesses and injuries, management of stable chronic illnesses, and diagnosis and treatment of mild to moderate depression. Other direct services include preventative health services such as women's health exams, routine and sports physicals, and provision of a full array of routine and travel related immunizations. The Hope Health Center also provides coordination of care for students who require health care from community-based providers. This service includes the making of timely and appropriate referrals. Educational services to individuals include health risk and health maintenance behavior assessment and counseling during routine Hope Health Center visits. Written and verbal information regarding disease process and prescribed and self-care is also routinely dispensed. Educational services to the broader campus community include provision of educational programming to Residential Life including participation in Resident Assistant orientation. and residence hall based programming throughout the academic year. Other campus based educational efforts include the Hope Health Center web site, and participation in programming directed at Faculty and Staff such as International Education's Risk and Responsibility Workshop for Hope sponsored travel. The Hope Health Center also serves as a resource to the broader campus community when community health issues arise. |
