Weddings
at Dimnent Memorial Chapel
Dimnent
Memorial Chapel located at 277 College Avenue on the campus of Hope College provides a
beautiful setting for a wedding. The chapel can accomodate over 1,000
guests. Weddings are held in the chapel during the summer (weekend following
commencement in May to weekend prior to new student arrival in August)
and academic holidays (Fall Break in October, Christmas Break in December
and January, Winter Break in February, and Spring Break in March). Hope
College is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, however the
chapel is open to persons of all faiths and denominations.
Confirmation: The chapel is confirmed 1 year prior
to the wedding date. One wedding can be scheduled on Friday evening,
two
weddings can be scheduled on each Saturday and two weddings on each Sunday
and you may choose a mid-day or evening block, depending on availability.
To add your name to the waiting list please call 616-395-7370.
Hours of Use: The renter will have use of the facility
for one hour for the rehearsal and four consecutive hours for the ceremony.
The four hours include set-up, the event and breakdown. To maximize
the
wedding experience for all parties using the chapel an extension of time
is not permitted. All times are scheduled through the Conference Services
Office at 616-395-7370.
Rental Fee: Dimnent Memorial Chapel is available for
rent to the general public. The rental fee for the general public for
2009 is $900.00. A discount is offered if either the bride or groom
is
attending Hope College as a full time student or is an alumni of the College.
The Hope College discount also applies to current Hope College Faculty
and Staff. A current faculty/staff ID is required. The discounted rental
fee for Hope College Alumni/Students for 2009 is $600.00. A non-refundable
deposit is required with each signed contract. The wedding rental fee
will be billed after the event and 6% sales tax will be added.
Dressing Rooms: Two classrooms in the basement of the
chapel are provided for your convenience as dressing rooms. Each dressing
room has fans and mirrors.
Handicap Access: Handicap parking spaces are located
in the vicinity of the chapel. The chapel has elevator access through
the front entrance.
Wedding & Event Assistant: Your assistant
will meet with you at the beginning of your rehearsal and will have
the
setup
in
place
at both the start of the rehearsal and the start of your ceremony time
slot. It is very important that you determine your setup needs prior to
your arrival at the rehearsal and communicate it to the Events and Conferences
Office at 616-395-7370. While all of our chapel assistants
are
helpful
and available the entire time you are at the chapel, they are not intended
to be professional wedding coordinators, and they should not be asked
to perform duties that relate to the progress of your ceremony.
Music:
Any musician is welcome to play the Pel's Van Leeuwen Organ in
the balcony of the chapel or the Skinner
Organ on the stage. The 6' Yamaha Grand Piano is available to any musician
as well. The CD Player is located in the balcony of the chapel. Chairs,
stands, and stools are available upon request. Those wishing to rehearse
in the chapel should rehearse during the scheduled rehearsal time or reserve
additional time (a fee will be assessed).
