COMPUTING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
IT System Manager

Hope College is seeking a motivated, creative, and adaptive person to manage enterprise-wide server and network environments. This is a full-time, salaried position that is part of the IT System Management team. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, those with experience involving high-performance scientific computing are especially welcome.

Hope College is a Christian, co-educational, undergraduate, residential, multicultural, liberal arts college of 3,200 students, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, located in Holland, Michigan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administer tasks such as deployment, backups, maintenance, and upgrades for Linux, Windows Server, and VMware vSphere. Responsible for high reliability and proper documentation.
  • Manage and support an environment that includes Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Ellucian Banner, Dean Evans and Associates EMS, Higher One CASHNet, Moodle, LAMP stacks, OpenLDAP, Samba, several web Content Management Systems, and Cisco networking equipment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain procedures and tools to monitor the condition/performance of and detect problems with IT systems. Identify and act upon situations of concern.
  • Perform and document new product evaluations of emerging software and hardware technologies. Interact with College faculty and staff in the development of new hardware/software systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Major, minor, or coursework in IT or Computer Science preferred
  • Experience in administering enterprise-wide technology environments
  • Experience with many of the above-mentioned operating systems, environments, and applications.
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Detail oriented, organized, ability to manage multiple priorities
