THEATRE
Assistant to the Theatre Department

Hope College invites immediate applications for this part-time, benefit-eligible position with the Theatre Department. The Assistant will work 30 hours/week during the academic year (40 weeks) and 15 hours/week during the summer (12 weeks). Hope College is a Christian, co-educational, undergraduate, residential, multicultural, liberal arts college of 3,200 students, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, located in Holland, MI.

Position Summary:

This position provides secretarial and administrative assistance to the Theatre Department faculty and Hope Summer Repertory Theatre.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recording secretary for weekly Theatre Council meetings
  • Gather information/set up programs for departmental productions
  • Assist Director of Theatre with DAA Audition Day, high school outreach program, and publicity
  • Assist Chairperson with NAST, internal reviews, departmental reports
  • Process recruiting letters
  • Update alumni and email distribution lists
  • Disperse electronically weekly departmental newsletter and other announcements/notices
  • Organize/coordinate ACTF trip
  • Process student work authorization forms/time cards as well as hire/train/supervise student office assistants
  • Coordinate media services
  • Serve as bookkeeper for departmental budgets
  • Maintain departmental video/script libraries
  • Process departmental mailings
  • Maintain the department website

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma with previous office experience necessary
  • Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, and website development.
  • Experience with graphic design software and the production of marketing tools is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform simple bookkeeping functions, manage multiple deadlines and activities, and work independently
