Program Coordinator

Hope College invites immediate applications for this full time, exempt position. Hope College is a Christian, co-educational, undergraduate, residential, multicultural, liberal arts college of 3,200 students, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, located in Holland, MI.

Job Description:

The Program Coordinator of the Upward Bound Program is responsible for meeting the academic, personal and career needs of Upward Bound students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in coordinating the academic year tutoring component
  • Assists in monitoring the students’ academic progress
  • Develops and implements senior preparation activities
  • Assists in hiring, training & supervising academic year tutors
  • Develop and implement Senior Seminar
  • Assist students in the postsecondary admission process
  • Assist students and parents in applying for scholarships and financial aid
  • Arrange and implement a program of college visits
  • Assists in hiring, training and supervising the Summer Program tutor advisors
  • Assists the director in conducting monthly audits of program files to maintain quality control, assure that program objectives are being met and that program complies with state and federal regulations


  • Experience working with an educational program and/or similar projects
  • Experience working with disadvantaged youth
  • Experience with financial aid and preparing students for college admission
  • Experience developing and implementing programs and workshops
  • Appreciation for and experience working with diverse cultures and preferably bilingual and bicultural (Spanish)
  • Teaching, college admissions, financial aid, or counseling background beneficial
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible schedule
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and SPSS preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred in education, administration, counseling, or social work
