Vice President

Hope College invites immediate applications for this full-time, administrative position. Hope College is a Christian, co-educational, undergraduate, residential, multicultural, liberal arts college of 3,200 students, affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, located in Holland, MI.

Job Description:

The person in this position is the chief development officer of Hope College and responsible for providing leadership and direction for the college’s advancement staff in building awareness, developing relationships, and raising funds and to ensure that the college has sufficient resources to carry out its vision and pursue its mission with distinction.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide leadership for the departments of development (major gifts and planned giving), annual support, public and community relations, alumni and parent relations, and advancement services
  • Lead the advancement staff in developing and carrying out a strategic plan for raising the funds needed to support the program of the college
  • Create a collaborative environment among staff to accomplish the goals set
  • Establish and oversee the policies and procedures needed to conduct an effective advancement program
  • Develop relationships with a portfolio of top donor prospects leading to major gifts to the college
  • Prepare and manage the overall budget for the advancement division
  • Participate as a member of the President’s administrative council in planning and visioning for the successful future of the college

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with an advanced degree preferred
  • Significant experience in effective fundraising and capital campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to create a collaborative environment and lead a staff in accomplishing goals
  • Knowledge in the various areas of institutional advancement including annual, major, and planned gifts, corporate and foundation relations, alumni and parent relations, communications, and advancement services
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to the Christian faith
