History

The Hope College Gospel Choir started in 1970 as an extension of the Black Student Union. In 1992, Vanessa Allen and Pastor Darnisha Taylor became co-directors and formally organized the choir.

Taylor served as director until the spring of 2001. Christopher Kingdom Grier followed Taylor in serving as director until 2005.

In 2006, we welcomed Bryan Lowe as the new Director of Gospel Choir. Bryan is a supervisor at Wedgwood Christian Youth Services and has been there since May 2002. We are excited to begin our next season together.

The Hope College Gospel Choir's mission is to glorify God through worship. The choir's members come from different backgrounds, cultures and denominational experiences to join together to worship using dynamic media such as Black Gospel and Contemporary Christian music.
