Maintenance

The maintenance
dept. has as its goal to make the facilities at Hope College functional,
comfortable and appealing to all faculty/staff, students and visitors.
This is accomplished by maintaining and upgrading all the equipment
and facilities belonging to Hope College. |
| Our daily service
is provided through a campus work order system and distributed to team
members. Larger projects are referred to the manager and performed
by outside contractors. |
The maintenance
team consists of one manager and 11 team members with a total of 192
years in this department. Team members are also on 24-hour call in
case of an emergency

As the manager of the Maintenance Team, Mike is responsible for evaluating the problems reported to the department, and delegating repair tasks to his team members or outside contractors.

Constructs, repairs, alters and maintains structural facilities
and related equipment such as windows, cabinets, shelves, etc. Serves
also as backup locksmith.

Painter:

Performs various painting and staining duties as well as organizes
and supervises student workers to assist in painting during college
breaks and summer.

Performs preventive and emergency maintenance of equipment and
repair and trouble shoots plumbing problems, performing alterations

Perform preventive and emergency maintenance of electrical equipment,
motors, and lighting in compliance with current codes. As sustainability initiatives, our electricians identify and remedy high energy use systems. They also provide maintenance and repair of smoke and CO detectors and emergency lighting. |
