Maintenance

	The maintenance dept. has as its goal to make the facilities at Hope College functional, comfortable and appealing to all faculty/staff, students and visitors. This is accomplished by maintaining and upgrading all the equipment and facilities belonging to Hope College.
Our daily service is provided through a campus work order system and distributed to team members. Larger projects are referred to the manager and performed by outside contractors.

The maintenance team consists of one manager and 11 team members with a total of 192 years in this department. Team members are also on 24-hour call in case of an emergency The high standards set by this team are a reflection of Hope College and the community.

Maintenance Manager: Michael McCluskey

As the manager of the Maintenance Team, Mike is responsible for evaluating the problems reported to the department, and delegating repair tasks to his team members or outside contractors. Carpenter: Henry Bosch		Constructs, repairs, alters and maintains structural facilities and related equipment such as windows, cabinets, shelves, etc. Serves also as backup locksmith. Residential Builders' License, Certified Installer of LCN door systems, Aerial Work Platform operating permit, Certified in Asbestos and Lead Paint safety
Painter: Mike VanDort		Performs various painting and staining duties as well as organizes and supervises student workers to assist in painting during college breaks and summer. B. Plumber: Dave DuBois		Performs preventive and emergency maintenance of equipment and repair and trouble shoots plumbing problems, performing alterations where needed. State of MI Master Plumbing License, Certified in Cross-Connection Control, Aerial Work Platform operating permit, Certified in Asbestos and Lead Paint safety
HVAC: Mike Veltman		EPA certified technician who can install, modify, repair and overhaul college equipment, coolers and air conditioners. A.A.S. in HVACR - Ferris State University, EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification, NATE - North American Technician Excellence CDC w/air brakes licence, Aerial Work Platform operating permit, Certified in Asbestos and Lead Paint safety
Controls Specialist: Randy Vereeke		Trouble shoots, maintains and repairs HVAC and pneumatic controls. Is in charge of the central energy management system. General Maintenance Mechanics:	Perform routine scheduled maintenance (lubrication, belts, filters). Assists trades mechanics and performs routine maintenance that does not require licensed tradesmen.

Steam System Specialist: Mike Fairchild		Operates and maintains the central heating plant. Oversees the distribution of steam and the return of the condensate throughout the campus. Electricians:

Perform preventive and emergency maintenance of electrical equipment, motors, and lighting in compliance with current codes. As sustainability initiatives, our electricians identify and remedy high energy use systems. They also provide maintenance and repair of smoke and CO detectors and emergency lighting.
