BACCALAUREATE AND COMMENCEMENT

We have room for faculty at both Baccalaureate Services and Commencement so if you did not sign up but still wish to join, please do! Weather is looking better for Sunday but no decision will be made until Sunday morning. Updates will be posted on hope.edu as decisions are made.

Full-time faculty are expected to participate in full academic regalia. Part-time faculty are welcome as well. If you do not have your own cap and gown, please make arrangements for rental with the Bookstore immediately.

BACCALAUREATE SERVICES, 9:30 and 11:30 am, Dimnent Chapel:

Choose one of the two services. Be in line and ready to process at 9:15 am SHARP for the 1st service or at 11:15 am SHARP for the 2nd service. The faculty will form an honor guard on the sidewalk between Dimnent and the Seminary Chapel for the graduates as they process from DeWitt to the Chapel. In the event of rain, the faculty will meet in the basement of the Chapel, room 11.

BRUNCH BUFFET, 10:45 am– 2:00 pm, Phelps Hall ONLY:

Free brunch tickets for Phelps dining are available for faculty participating in Baccalaureate and/or Commencement and their immediate family (spouse, children) from the DeVos Fieldhouse ticket office. The ticket office is open Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM. Tickets can be ordered by phone (x7890) or by email tickets@hope.edu.

Order by 8 AM Monday, April 28 to have your tickets mailed to you via campus mail.

Tickets may be picked up at the ticket office beginning April 14 and until 5 PM Friday, May 2

 

COMMENCEMENT, 3:00 pm:

If you have a family member* graduating, you are invited to present his/her diploma at Commencement. Please indicate this on the online registration form and you will be sent further instructions closer to the day.

* limited to spouse, child or grandchild only - thank you for your understanding!

Ray and Sue Smith Stadium (Weather Permitting)

  • Faculty will gather in the south endzone on the football field ready to process at 2:30 pm. The faculty processional will begin promptly at 2:50. The Stadium parking lot will be reserved for handicapped parking only on a first-come/first served basis. You will need a handicapped parking tag to park on site. If you are able, we recommend that you walk from campus to allow for more parking around the stadium for students' families and guests.

DeVos Fieldhouse (inclement weather site):

  • Parking: If you are able, please park on campus and walk to the fieldhouse, to enable our guests, especially those with disabilities, to park at DeVos. If you do need to park at the fieldhouse, please contact Lannette Zylman-TenHave for a parking pass
  • Processional: Faculty should enter at the West entrance and gather in the South Hallway (outside lockerrooms) under the concourse. Be in line and ready to process at 2:30 pm, the faculty processional will begin promptly at 2:50.
  • Seating: Faculty will be seated in bleachers on either side of the stage.

If weather necessitates a move indoors, we will make an announcement at both Baccalaureate Services, as well as posting on KnowHope.
