Faculty Development Retreat

How Faith Relates to Teaching and Scholarship

Marigold Lodge, Saturday, February 16, 8:30 to 2:30

The Future of Christian LearningJoin new faculty for an Initium program retreat and engage with your colleagues in an interesting and important conversation. RSVP by 1/18 required.

We will discuss four short essays by Hope faculty, Susan Dunn (Nursing), Andrew Le (Music), Jack Mulder (Philosophy) and Laura Pardo (Education), on how their faith relates to their teaching and scholarship. We will also hear a response to the book, The Future of Christian Learning by Steve Bouma-Prediger (Religion). This book is a dialogue between Mark Noll and James Turner on two different approaches (evangelical and Catholic) to Christian learning. The goal of the retreat is to open up a conversation in which  many perspectives, including your own, become a part of the discussion of Hope College's present and future.
