Here's what is making news at Hope this week:

Graves Hall Restoration

One of the college's oldest buildings is set to undergo a major "adaptive restoration", which will not only restore its original charm and character, but also bring it into the modern era as an academic facility at Hope.

English professor publishes new text regarding C.S. Lewis

Dr. Peter Schakel of the English department has published a new book related to the writings of C.S. Lewis. The text examines how Lewis teaches through his writings.

Men's Swimming claims MIAA Championship

Hope played host to the MIAA championship meet this past weekend at the Holland Aquatic Center, and the men's team claimed its 10th MIAA championship. Coach John Patnott is the winningest coach among all active MIAA coaches (19 women's, 10 men's championships).

Hope and Calvin meet for the 168th time this Wednesday

Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse will host the 168th meeting of the men's basketball teams from Hope and Calvin. Hope leads the series 64-63, and is ahead by just 58 in the overall point totals. The game is sold out.

Hope sees lowest costs increase among area private colleges

The Grand Rapids Press reports that among area private colleges, Hope will be instating the lowest percentage costs increase for the 2008-2009 academic year at 4.7%.

Upcoming Arts Events at Hope

There are several arts events coming up at Hope within the next couple of weeks -- here's the roundup:

"Crimes of the Heart", Theatre Department: The first of two mainstage productions to be presented by the Theatre Department this spring. It will run at 8 pm on February 15-16 and 20-23. Tickets are $4 for students.

David Bazan, Hope College Concert Series: The singer-songwriter will present a concert at Hope's Knickerbocker Theatre on Tuesday, February 19 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $12.

Harlem Quartet, Great Performance Series: The acclaimed string ensemble will present a concert in Dimnent Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 22 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $6.

20th Annual Musical Showcase, Music Department: Ensembles and soloists from the Music Department will present the annual collage-style concert at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids on Monday, March 3 at 8 pm. Tickets are $10.
