Completing the Common Application

    • When you go from here to work on your Common Application, you’ll have left the Hope College website. Our admissions team can answer many of the questions you might have about the application, but you may also want to make use of the Application Support Center.
    • Once you’ve completed your Common Application, be sure that you’ve reviewed the requirements for Hope. Look for a green checkmark signifying that all application requirements for Hope have been completed.

Admissions Decisions

Students who complete their application by November 1 will receive an admissions decision that is mailed the week of December 2. Applications received after November 1 will be evaluated and decisions made on a rolling basis.

International Students

International Students

Hope College encourages qualified international students to apply for admission. Admission is selective and is based on your secondary school record including courses, grades, recommendations, English language proficiency, and other information taken from the application. Hope College admits students without regard to religion, race, gender, disabilities, or national origin.

International applicants are required to provide the following:

  1. Completed Common Application
  2. $35 application fee
  3. Official transcripts from secondary school (plus post-secondary school for transfers)
  4. ACT or SAT scores (not required, but encouraged)
  5. Evidence of Proficiency in English. This can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:
  • TOEFL (minimum 213 computer based or 79 Internet based with no sub test score less than 18). The code to send your results to Hope College is 1301.
  • IELTS (minimum 6.5).
  • Attendance at a Secondary School where the curriculum is taught in English. The TOEFL and/or SAT may still be required depending on the student's record and recommendations.

Transfer students

Transfer Students

Hope College accepts applications from students attending other universities and colleges. To apply, you must provide these items:

  1. Completed Common Application
  2. $35 application fee
  3. High school transcript
  4. College transcript (all previous colleges)
  5. ACT or SAT scores

  1. A letter of recommendation from an adult outside of your family
  2. Official transcripts from any college(s) attended
