Online Application Instructions
Freshman applicants are required to provide the following:
- Completed application
- $35 non-refundable application fee submitted via credit card through secure server (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover accepted)
- Completed personal statement/essay
- Official high school transcript
- Test results from the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
- Official transcripts from any college(s) attended
| High School Students: |
Please submit the completed application form and a $35 application fee via credit card. Provide your counselor with the Counselor Recommendation Form and ask him/her to forward it along with the other required items to the address below. If test scores are not included on your transcript, have them forwarded by the appropriate testing agency. |
| Home Schooled Students: |
In addition to the regular application materials, please also include the following:
- A paper from your final two years of home schooling (at least three pages)
- A list of up to 20 books read during your final two years of home schooling (non-textbooks)
- A letter of recommendation from an adult outside of your family
- Homeschooled certification statement

Need-Based Financial Aid
The following forms are required to be considered for need based financial aid.
- Application for Admission
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Hope College Supplemental Application for Financial Aid (SAF),
The FAFSA and SAF should be submitted between JANUARY 1st and MARCH 1st.
Merit-Based Scholarships
| Academic: |
Hope College has a substantial merit-based scholarship program. The application for admission also serves as the application for academic scholarships. All documents required for a complete admission file must be received on or before February 15 in order to assure consideration for academic scholarships. | Arts: |
Awards are made in the visual arts, dance, music, creative writing, and theatre. Audition or submission of appropriate materials is required. Contact the appropriate department chairperson for additional information. For detailed information, click here. |
