Hometown
That's a hard question! I was born in Holland. But I mostly grew up in Willmar, Minnesota, where I went to school from kindergarten through tenth grade. However, I graduated from Urbandale High School in Urbandale, Iowa.

Education
Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa

Area of Study
BA, Elementary Education

Hobbies
I love spending time with my husband, Kurt, and daughters, Juliana (11) and Emma-Elisabeth (7). I also enjoy reading, exercising, and baking.

Fun or Interesting Fact
1. I ran a marathon. 2. In high school I was Nellie in South Pacific and actually had to wash my hair on stage with cold water.

Favorite College Memory
I loved college. I'm grateful for all the great friends I made and am still in contact with. In fact, my family still gets together every summer with a group of these college friends.

Why I love Hope
I love the people that make up the community of Hope. Hope is filled with people who love what they do and do what they do to the best of their ability. I love that Hope is a place where you will not only earn a world-class education, but you also will be immersed in an intentionally spiritual and socially supportive environment.

Favorite TV Show/ Movie
I'm not too picky . . . Ace of Cakes

Best thing about Holland, MI
1. Lake Michigan. 2. Downtown. (And, of course, the 5th Ward Councilman -- and after November, the Mayor!)
