My
Junior year I studied abroad in Aberdeen, Scotland. At that
time, Hope had just hired the new dean of the Chapel, Trygve
Johnson. Tryg and his wife, Kristen, were still
residing in St. Andrews Scotland finishing up their dissertations.
One weekend I hopped
on a train to St. Andrews, met Tryg and Kristen for coffee, and
ended up having dinner at their Scottish home before returning
to my Bed and Breakfast.
It was great to share experiences from Hope with them and learn
a bit about their impressions. Only at Hope would a staff memeber
who isn't even on campus yet be so intentional about building relationships
with students.
