HOPE COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

MISSION
To enhance the mission of Hope through the dedication and resources of its alumni by fostering lifelong relationships with each other and the college.

VISION
All Hope College alumni will be actively engaged in the life of the college and will support the college’s academic, institutional, and financial goals.

Lifelong relationships will be established through:

1. Mobilization
2. Representation
3. Communication
4. Celebration

MOBILIZATION
The Alumni Association will mobilize its members to be involved in the life of the College. The Association will provide opportunities for alumni to stay connected with each other and the College, will encourage alumni to positively represent and promote the College, and will promote contributions to the Hope Fund and capital campaigns. Examples include:

1. financial support of the College
2. lifelong learning
3. new student recruitment
4. career development and networking
5. gatherings around athletics, arts, volunteerism, and family
6. community service projects

REPRESENTATION
The Alumni Association will represent the College to the broader community through the verbal and living testimony of its members. The Alumni Association will seize opportunities and take responsibility for telling the story of Hope College. As Alumni interact with people of their communities all around the globe, they represent the knowledge, the discipline, and the compassion that Hope instills in its graduates. Alumni can represent the College well by:

1. speaking proudly about experiences at Hope
2. speaking positively and confidently about the academic and extracurricular programs at Hope
3. sharing information about Hope with high school guidance counselors and RCA churches in your community
4. wearing a class ring, Hope sweatshirts or other Hope paraphernalia
5. The Alumni Association will also represent the needs, concerns, and accomplishments of alumni back to the College administration through the Alumni Board regional representatives.

COMMUNICATION
The Alumni Association will be an effective communication link between alumni and the College. The Association will regularly share updates from the College and its alumni, such as upcoming events, opportunities to be involved, accomplishments, and noteworthy news through:

1. News From Hope
2. Presidential Updates
3. the alumni website
4. emails, and
5. marketing tools that communicate a consistent message and image

CELEBRATION
The Alumni Association will assist the College in recognizing and celebrating the achievements in the personal, professional and academic lives of its members. It will also assist the College in celebrating and publicly recognizing the commitment of time and resources alumni make to the College. Through awards and celebrations of accomplishments, the Alumni Association will seek to acknowledge, celebrate, and enhance not only the lives of alumni but the College itself. The Office of Alumni Relations will work with the Association to celebrate alumni in the following ways:

1. nominating individuals for the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Meritorious Service Award, and the Hope For Humanity Award
2. recognizing milestones in the lives of alumni beginning with the senior class “soon to be” alumni
3. sponsoring a banquet and reception honoring the future graduates
   hosting a reception for senior athletes who are inducted into the H-Club
4. planning five-year class reunions through a 65th reunion
5. Inducting members of the 50th class reunion into the Fifty Year Circle, an elite group of alumni who have a lifetime of service and fellowship with Hope
