Travel Program

A Tradition of Travel

The Hope College Alumni Association began hosting educational tours for alumni and friends in the 1960s. The integration of education with Hope faculty and the opportunity to connect with friends from the Hope community sets these experiences apart. Tours have grown in popularity over the years and the program has traveled to such destinations as Sicily, the Galapagos, Dubrovnik and Africa. Tours typically take place in the spring and summer and last for 10–14 days.

OUR NEXT TRIP

Our next trip takes place May 9–22, 2017, and is a 14-day adventure on the northern safari circuit of Tanzania. The trip will explore four renowned national parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you will learn about local culture and wildlife with expert guides and tour leaders, including Hope biology professor Eldon Greij and distinguished alumnus and National Geographic photographer Tim Laman ’83. HARVEY BLANKESPOOR ENDOWED FUND FOR MAY TERM IN THE SCIENCES
Participants in this trip are invited to join others in supporting today’s Hope students by funding experiential learning through travel. This safari is modeled after a biology student trip and helps to support programs like it through the Harvey Blankespoor Endowed Fund for May Term in the Sciences.

Dr. Blankespoor has been a member of the faculty since 1976 and has been named national Professor of the Year by The Council for Advancement and Support of Education and The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. This fund was established in honor of his international work with Hope students.

Participants in this trip are invited to support this important endowed fund. You can make a gift as part of registration or call 616.395.7250 to learn more. You can also give online.
