Described by the Boston Globe as "the livest live music in town," The Triple Helix is next. Inspired by the notion of the double helix as the dynamic intertwining energies that generate life, they combine piano, violin, and cello into superb musical chemistry. Including former Lydian String member and Holland resident, Rhonda Rider on cello, the Globe raves, "this listener has heard many triosbut never anything to surpass the Triple Helix." The Triple Helix also includes Lois Shapiro on piano and Bayla Keyes on violin. The three award-winning and internationally known musicians joined together in 1995. In addition to the traditional concert format, often featuring premieres of works written expressly for them, the trio offers innovative and engaging lecture-recitals, Music from the Inside Out. These programs often focus on works by a single composer or from a particular culture or period, showing how music reflects ideas and aesthetic notions current at the time.
