The Harlem Quartet
February 22, 7:30 p.m.
Dimnent Chapel

Here is a chance to catch a group before everyone else is talking about them. Members of the Harlem Quartet are all First Place Laureates of the prestigious Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players. The ensemble's mission is to engage young and new audiences and to advance diversity in classical music. The ensemble made its successful Carnegie Hall debut during the Sphinx Gala Concert in October 2006, to rave reviews from The New York Times. They also made a successful debut at the legendary Appollo Theatre in New York in November 2006. The Harlem Quartet was featured on WNBC in the fall of 2006 and will release their professional CD in 2007 with the White Pine Music label. Their performance will include works ranging from Mozart to Wynton Marsalis.
