The
Hot Club of San Francisco

The Hot Club
of San Francisco is an ensemble of accomplished and versatile
musicians celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane
Grappelli's pioneering Hot Club de France. The ensemble borrows
the all-string instrumentation of violin, bass and guitars from
the original Hot Club, but breathes new life into the music with
innovative arrangements of classic tunes and original compositions
from the group's superb lead guitarist Paul Mehling. The performance
will also include their "Silent Surrealism" project,
created in conjunction with the San Francisco Silent Film Festival.
The Hot Club accompanies four early silent films with their distinctive
music, often reffered to as "gypsy jazz." A brilliant
multi-media trip back to a time when the artistic and literary
style emerged as a means of expressing the imagination.
"...one
of the most cohesive and entertaining Gypsy swing bands in the
United States." San Francisco Chronicle
"...Intricate,
scorching and often brilliant solos." Acoustic Guitar
