Hope Player Honored for Going Beyond the Game
Seniors Honored by MIAA Coaches Foward Nate Snuggerud of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS) has been named to the All-MIAA first team for a second year while guard Colton Overway of Holland (West Ottawa HS) has received second team recognition. Two of the co-captains of this year's team, they ranked first and second. A four-year letterwinner, Snuggerud led the team in scoring and rebounding as both a junior and senior and finished his career on the Hope alltime scoring honor roll in 13th place with 1,366 points. He ranked sixth alltime in field goal shooting (.562). Overway was Hope's playmaker. In addition to scoring in double figures, he was among the MIAA leaders in assists until he suffered a broken foot with three weeks left in the season. A three-year letterwinner, he ended sixth on the Hope alltime list for assists per game.
Rival Calvin Wins Conference Tournament Title (2/23/13) The game was tied six times when Calvin went on a seven point run to gain the lead for good. The host Knights led 36-28 at halftime and by as many as 25 points in the second half. The game turned very physical with 45 personal fouls whistled resulting in 65 free throw attempts. Senior Nate Snuggerud led the Flying Dutchmen with 17 points. He ended his career 13th on the Hope career scoring list with 1,366 points.
Flying Dutchmen Headed to Tournament Championship Game (2/22/13) The victory sets the stage for Rivalry games on Saturday between Hope and Calvin in both the men's and women's tournament. Both games will be played at Calvin, the women's final at 3 p.m. and the men's at 7:30 p.m. The winners will advance to the NCAA tournament. This will mark the third time in four years that the championship games have involved Hope and Calvin in both the men's and women's tournaments. However, it hasn't been since 1995 that one of the schools has hosted both title games. Improving to 18-8 on the season, coach Matt Neil's Flying Dutchmen extended their winning streak to nine in-a-row. The Flying Dutchmen led by three points at halftime, 38-35, and were able to expand it to double figures five minutes into the second half. The game turned very physical with 45 personal fouls whistled and 50 free throws attempted. Hope was 23-for-31 on free throws compared to Trine's 10-for-19. Freshman guard Ben Gardner scored a collegiate career-high 24 points while senior forward Nate Snuggerud added 22. They were a combined 13-for-13 on their free throws. Hope's 46-35 rebound advantage was led by junior Nate Van Arendonk who had eight.
Victory is Dress Rehearsal for Conference Tournament (2/16/13) The conference tournament determines who will represent the MIAA in the NCAA Division III championship beginning the first weekend in March. Thursday's other semi-final game will have league champion and top-seed Calvin (22-3) hosting #4 seeded Adrian (18-7). The highest remaining seed will host Saturday's championship game. The Flying Dutchmen ended the regular season as the MIAA's top offensive team in scoring average and shooting percentage. On Saturday the team measured their shooting with a season-low 46 attempts, but making 24 of them for a 52% clip. The difference in the end came down to free throws with Hope making 29 of a league season-high 39 attempts. Hope's last 13 points over the final five minutes came from free throws. Freshman guard Ben Gardner led all players with 18 points while freshman center Brock Benson followed with 14 points which included clutch 8-for-9 free throw shooting.
Salute to Seniors Key to Flying Dutchmen Victory (2/13/13) The game was dedicated to the team's six senior players. The all-senior starting lineup of Nate Snuggerud, Billy Seiler, Josh Holwerda, Chris Ray and Chase DeMaagd set an early tone by gaining a 10-3 lead four minutes into the action. The sixth senior, Colton Overway, was unable to play as he continues to recover from a foot injury. Snuggerud recorded his eighth career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Seiler and freshman Ben Gardner scored 12 points each. The Flying Dutchmen overwhelmed the Comets on the boards with a 58-22 rebound advantage. Hope shot 55% for the game.
Flying Dutchmen Enjoy Rivalry Game Turnaround (2/9/13) Coach Matt Neil's Flying Dutchmen delayed Calvin's bid to win an outright conference championship and now enter the final week of the regular season just one game behind the league leader. The victory puts Hope at 10-2 in the MIAA while Calvin is 11-1. With a six-game winning streak, the Flying Dutchmen are 15-8 overall. In a game tied nine times in the second half, the last at 67-67 with 1:06 to play, the Flying Dutchmen took the lead for good on Nate Van Arendonk's jumper. The junior center had been held scoreless in the earlier meeting of the teams. This game he responded with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Free throws in the final seconds kept the Knights at bay, giving Hope's advantage in the all-time series to eight games. Back in January in the loss to Calvin, Hope's starting lineup totaled 25 points. On Saturday every player in the starting lineup ended in double figures led by freshman guard Ben Gardner with 16 points. Adding 11 points apiece were Nate Snuggerud, Billy Seiler and Alex Eidson. Scoring clutch 12 points off the bench was Chase DeMaagd.
Steady Shooting Keys Flying Dutchmen Road Victory (2/6/13) For the second straight game the Flying Dutchmen had an extraordinary shooting percentage over a half. Shooting 63% in the first half (17/27), the Flying Dutchmen went from a 14-14 tie seven minutes into the game to gaining a 40-22 advantage at halftime. Hope finished with a 56% shooting clip. Freshmen guards Alex Eidson and Ben Gardner led the scoring with 14 and 13 points respectively.
Flying Dutchmen Sizzle Nets in DeVos Victory (2/2/13) The Flying Dutchmen shot a single game DeVos record 68%, inluding 74% in the second half. The previous mark had been 62% against Davenport in 2008. After leading 45-37 at halftime, the Flying Dutchmen built a 20-point advantage (59-39) over the first six minutes of the second half. The biggest lead of the game was 29 points (89-60) with four minutes remaining. Hope's starting lineup shot 70% led by junior center Nate VanArendonk who was 6-for-6 en route to a season-high 16 point performance. Freshman guards Ben Gardner and Alex Eidson followed with 14 and 12 points respectively. Gardner was also credited with six assists and did not commit a turnover over 30 minutes of play. The Flying Dutchmen committed a season-low seven turnovers.
Flying Dutchmen Adapt Fast in Gaining MIAA Victory (1/30/12) Senior guard Colton Overway has been sidelined, perhaps for the rest of the season, with a broken foot suffered in last Saturday's game. Freshman Ben Gardner got his first collegiate start and responded with five assists. An energized defense was also a key as the Flying Dutchmen were credited with a DeVos Fieldhouse record 12 blocked shots led by junior Nate Van Arendonk who turned away five Adrian shots. The Flying Dutchmen led 29-23 at halftime and in the second half were able to expand their advantage to as many as 15 points behind 68% shooting. Senior Nate Snuggerud took game scoring honors with 24 points while freshman Alex Eidson added 17 points behind four three-point baskets.

Holland Heights principal, Kevin Derr, a longtime colleague of Coach Matt Neil, made an interesting proposal in a conversation around Thanksgiving. He simply wondered if the Flying Dutchmen might be willing to participate as mentor/tutors for the after-school math program at his school. The answer didn't take long to give and the Hope team began their every Thursday commitment. "It's a win-win situation for our players and the students at Holland Heights," said coach Neil. "This community supports Hope College in a huge way, and if we can make a difference in the lives of local students, we are all in."
Flying Dutchmen Keep Pace in MIAA Race Hope led 45-41 at halftime and three minutes into the second half the teams were tied for the seventh time, 49-49. Hope took command scoring six of the game's next eight points and steadily widened the gap to as many as 20 points, 90-70, with two minutes remaining. The Flying Dutchmen shot 60% for the game led by senior Colton Overway who was 7-for-9. Scoring 20 points, Overway was one of four Hope players to end in double figures. Game honors went to senior Nate Snuggerud with 24 points while freshman Brock Benson scored 17 points off the bench on 6-for-7 shooting. Ben Gardner, another freshman, added 10 points. After playing five of their last seven games on the road, the Flying Dutchmen can look forward to returning to DeVos Fieldhouse for four of their next five contests.
Flying Dutchmen Rebound with Home Court Win Midway through the first half the teams were tied for the sixth and final time, 14-14. Hope outscored Trine 28-12 over the next 10 minutes to gain a 42-26 halftime lead. Cmmand of the boards was significant for the Flying Dutchmen who held a 48-32 rebound advantage. Sophomore post Nate Van Arendonk recorded his second collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Ben Gardner scored a career-high 15 points and had three steals. Senior Colton Overway had good numbers in several areas with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Flying Dutchmen Suffer Second League Loss (1/19/13) Trailing by six points at halftime the Flying Dutchmen battled back in the second half. The teams exchanged the lead six times and were tied on eight other occasions. The last was 65-65 on Billy Seiler's layup with 29 seconds remaining. The game's final full possession belonged to Olivet. The Comets' DaunTrell Hill buried a three-pointer with one second remaining to give the Comets' a rare victory over the Flying Dutchmen. Hope struggled with its outside shot making just one of 12 three-point attempts. Nate Snuggerud led Hope with 18 points while Colton Overway added 12. Hope held a 42-27 rebound advantage led by Caleb Byers with seven.
First Rivalry Games Goes to Calvin (1/16/13) The Knights were quick out of the gate gaining a 14-3 advantage six minutes into the game. Calvin led 43-19 at halftime as the Flying Dutchmen were held to just five baskets over the first 20 minutes. The Flying Dutchmen trimmed the deficit to 14 points, 45-31, in the first six minutes of the second half. Senior Colton Overway was the only Hope player to score in double figures with 15 points.
Flying Dutchmen Remain Unbeaten in MIAA (1/12/13) Playing before a filled DeVos Fieldhouse crowd of 3,143, the Flying Dutchmen led from start-to-finish. Hope's lead was 49-37 at halftime and expanded to as many as 35 points in the second half. Senior Colton Overway recorded his second double-double of the season, but in a different way. He earlier had double-figure points and rebounds in a game. On Saturday he scored 12 points and tied the fieldhouse record for assists with 11. Senior Billy Seiler tied his career high for scoring with 18 points. Also scoring in double figures were Alex Eidson and Nate Snuggerud with 11 and 10 points respectively. Hope dominated the boards with a 48-29 rebound advantage led by Josh Holwerda and Nate Van Arendonk who each had eight.
Flying Dutchmen Need Second Half Rally to Gain Win (1/9/13) It was your typical Hope/Albion basketball game -- very physical. There were 47 personal fouls whistled. In the end it was clutch free throw shooting that would lead Hope to victory. Albion led by as many as 12 points in the first half and owned a 37-32 lead at the break. Hope battled back. The teams were tied five times before Hope took the lead for good with five minutes remaining, 57-55. Hope made 28-of-36 free throws led by Colton Overway who was 8-for-8. Albion, meanwhile, was just 13-for-28 on their free throws. Overway led all scorers with 16 points while Nate Snuggerud added 13. Hope held a 39-31 rebound advantage holding Albion to only nine offensive boards.
Flying Dutchmen Start Fast to Gain Conference Victory (1/5/13) The Flying Dutchmen set the tone early by scoring the game's first seven points and pulling to a 16-2 lead after just five minutes. Hope's lead at halftime was 43-26. Adrian trimmed Hope's lead to single figures with four minutes remaining and was within four points, 76-72, in the final minute. The Flying Dutchmen sealed the verdict with free throws. Freshman center Brock Benson recorded his first collegiate double-double scoring 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting and grabbing 10 rebounds, including seven off the defensive board. Senior guard Colton Overway also scored 18 points and had a team-best five assists while senior Billy Seiler followed with 15 points and had four steals.Shooting 53% from the floor, The Flying Dutchmen maximized their shots by taking just 47 of them the entire game.
Second Half Rally Sparks Flying Dutchmen in MIAA Opener (1/3/13) The victory didn't come easy. Alma, which hadn't won in Holland since 1998, led by as many as 10 points in the first half and held a 45-36 advantage at halftime. Hope didn't take its first lead of the game until midway through the second half when Stephen Wittenbach's jumper made it 58-57. It ignited the Flying Dutchmen who went on a 12-point run to take command, 70-57. Senior Nate Snuggerud, who had struggled in recent games, led the Flying Dutchmen with 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Freshman Ben Gardner followed with 12 points and a team-best five assists. Senior guard Colton Overway had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, nine off the defensive board. Senior Chase DeMaagd was the fourth player to score in double figures with 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting. The Flying Dutchmen shot 60% in the second half after shooting 42% before intermission. Alma was the opposite, shooting 53% with six three-pointers before halftime but only 27% in the second half. Hope dominated the boards with a 46-27 rebound advantage.
Flying Dutchmen Gain Important Win in Non-League Finale (12/29/12) The Flying Dutchmen led from start-to-finish, but the outcome wasn't secured until the closing minutes. Hope led 47-41 at halftime and by a many as 11 points early in the second half. The visiting Spartans fought back to within a point, 84-83, with 2:45 remaining. Hope scored the next eight points to assure the victory. Hope was led offensively by two freshmen. Guard Alex Eidson scored a collegiate high 26 points, including four three-pointers, while center Brock Benson tallied 17 points behind 6-for-6 shooting. Also scoring in double figures was sophomore Stephen Wittenbach with 13 points and senior Colton Overway with eight. Aurora (9-4) scored five more baskets, but Hope took advantage at the free throw line shooting 29-for-35 compared to the loser's 8-for-14. The Flying Dutchmen were credited with nine blocked shots led by Caleb Byers with three. Byers also grabbed eight rebounds to give Hope a 39-31 advantage on the boards.
Flying Dutchmen Suffer Loss in Florida (12/22/12) Hope was dominant in the first half, leading by as many as 15 points and holding a 39-28 advantage at intermission. Hope was leading 48-30 three minutes into the second half but the Titans went on a 12-point run to trim the gap to 48-42. Illinois Wesleyan took the lead, 56-55, with eight minutes remaining. The teams were tied twice and Caleb Byer's jumper put Hope ahead 59-58 with 5:49 to go. Illinois Wesleyan scored the next five points. Hope was back within a point, 68-67, on Brock Benson's put-back with 53 seconds remaining and the Flying Dutchmen had a chance to score the game-winner but Colton Overway's shot with six seconds left was blocked. Overway led the Flying Dutchmen with a career-high 22 points while Caleb Byers scored 16. Illinois Wesleyan held a 38-33 advantage in rebounds. Hope committed only eight turnovers and was credited with 14 steals led by Ben Gardner's four. Overway and freshman Alex Eidson, who received his first collegiate start, were named to the all-tournament team.
Flying Dutchmen Bow to First-Time Opponent (12/20/12) Coach Matt Neil's Flying Dutchmen have a 4-5 season record heading into a second game in Florida on Saturday against a familiar opponent, Illinois Wesleyan University. A year ago IWU topped Hope in the NCAA tournament in double overtime. Freshman Alex Eidson scored a collegiate career-high 18 points behind five three-point baskets. Billy Seiler followed with 15 points while Colton Overway scored 10.
Flying Dutchmen Approach Exams With .500 Record (12/8/12) The Flying Dutchmen fought back in the closing minutes of regulation to force the overtime period. Spring Arbor had a six point lead with five minutes remaining. Billy Seiler's steal and layup tied the score at 61-61 with 2:01. to go. Spring Arbor regained the lead with a pair of free throws. Hope responded with a game-tying basket by Nate Snuggerud at 1:05. Hope's defense denied Spring Arbor two shots in the closing seconds sending the game into OT. Spring Arbor never trailed in overtime opening with their eighth three-pointer of the game. The overtime was Hope's fifth at DeVos Fieldhouse and the fourth that ended in a loss. Spring Arbor's Chris Bellamy was named the tournament MVP behind a 32-point performance. Nate Snuggerud, who scored 23 points behind 10 baskets, was named to the all-tournament team along with teammate Colton Overway who maintained his season average of six assists per game. Billy Seiler added 14 points.
Flying Dutchmen Advance to Tournament Title Game (12/7/12) For the third time this season, coach Matt Neil's Flying Dutchmen won a tournament opener this time defeating Covenant, Ga. in a first-time meeting 87-73 before nearly 3,000 DeVos Fieldhouse fans. In two earlier tournaments the Flying Dutchmen won their opener, but lost the championship game. They'll try to end that skid on Saturday when they meet Spring Arbor who topped Grace Bible 68-62 in Friday's other game. Saturday's championship game at DeVos Fieldhouse will begin at 3 p.m. It will be preceded by a 1 p.m. consolation game between Grace Bible and Covenant. Against Covenant, Hope never trailed and held a nine-point lead at halftime. The biggest lead was 19 points, 84-65, with three minutes left. Senior Colton Overway scored a career-high 21 points, making three three-pointers and going 8-for-8 on free throws. Nate Snuggerud added 18 points while Caleb Byers and Alex Edson followed with 11 and 10 respectively. Covenant ended with five more baskets, but Hope took advantage of 30 Covenant fouls by making 34-of-45 free throws.

Flying Dutchmen Win First CCIW/MIAA Challenge Game (11/30/12) Five Hope players scored in double figures led by Nate Van Arendonk with 12 points. Scoring 11 apiece were Ben Gardner, Alex Eidson, Caleb Byers and Colton Overway. Byers also grabed eight rebounds and had four steals while Overway was credited with eight assists. Hope led 49-36 at halftime and by as many as 25 points in the second half (72-47). Hope shot 53% in the game (31/58) to Carthage's 38% (21/55).
Clutch Play by Senior Off the Bench Rallies Dutchmen (11/24/12) DeMaagd hit a clutch three-pointer to tie the score at 58-58 with 2:40 remaining. He followed with another three at 1:13 to give Hope a 63-61 lead. He added a pair of free throws with two seconds left in the game to seal the verdict. The senior ended the game shooting 4-for-4, including 2-for-2 on treys and was 5-for-5 on free throws for 15 points. Senior teammate Nate Snuggerud, who was named to the all-tournament team, just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Rival Calvin captured the Classic championship topping Cornerstone 70-65 in the title game.
Flying Dutchmen Bow in Hall of Fame Classic Game (11/23/12) The Classic continues tonight at DeVos with Calvin (4-0) meeting Cornerstone (4-1) at 6 p.m., followed by the Flying Dutchmen (1-2) against Aquinas (1-7). Cornerstone took advantage of second-chance points behind 14 offensive rebounds to gain the victory over the Flying Dutchmen. Hope shot 58% for the game, including 64% in the second half, but couldn't overcome the opportunistic Golden Eagles. Thirteen Hope players scored led by Nate Snuggerud's 19. Guard Colton Overway followed with 16 points and seven assists.
Flying Dutchmen Split Games on Opening Weekend (11/17/12)
Flying Dutchmen Open Season With Record Win (11/16/12) Pre-season All-American Nate Snuggerud set the tone for another outstanding season shooting a school-record 13-for-13 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from three-point range, en route to a 29 point performance in just 18 minutes of playing time. He is the first Hope player to have a perfect night when making more than 10 baskets in the game. The previous school mark for single game shooting was a 14-for-15 effort by Marty Snoap in a 100-85 win over Wabash in 1968. Snuggerud had a double-double with 11 rebounds. This game was never in doubt as the Flying Dutchmen scored the first seven points of the game, led 33-3 midway through the first and half and held a 67-11 lead at halftime. Hope opened the second half with a 34-2 run. Coach Matt Neil was able to give his bench an abundance of playing time. Junior transfer Caleb Byers scored 19 points in his Hope debut. Colton Overway followed with 11 points while Matt Parisi added 10. Hope shot 65% (49/75) for the game, including 7/16 from three-point range. The Flying Dutchmen held a 53-32 advantage in rebounds, were credited with 26 steals and had nine blocked shots led by Overway with five. Overway also had seven assists. Hope limited The Mighty Believers to 12% shooting (6/50). The Flying Dutchmen return to action playing host North Central College, This will be interesting early matchup of pre-season conference favorites, Hope in the MIAA and North Central in the CCIW.

Outlook The Flying Dutchmen will be bidding for a third consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and a return trip to the NCAA Division III tournament. The Flying Dutchmen in 2011-12 were outright conference champions for the 35th time in school history, competed in the NCAA tournament for the seventh consecutive year and posted a 27-2 overall record. Coach Matt Neil begins his third season as head coach having guided the Flying Dutchmen to a 50-9 mark in his first two campaigns. The pre-season roster of 15 players includes three freshmen, four sophomores, two juniors and six seniors. Co-captains of the team are seniors Josh Holwerda of Gallup, N.M. (Rehoboth HS), Colton Overway of Holland (West Ottawa HS) and Nate Snuggerud of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS). Other returning letterwinners include senior Chase DeMaagd of Woodland (Barry County Christian HS), junior Grant Neil of Holland (West Ottawa HS), senior Chris Ray of Fort Wayne, Ind. (Homestead HS), senior Billy Seiler of Chillicotte, Ill. (Valley Central HS), junior Nate Van Arendonk of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS), and sophomore Stephen Wittenbach of Ada (Forest Hills Central HS). Snuggerud, Seiler and Van Arenddonk are returning starters. Snuggerud, an All-MIAA first team honoree, led the conference (MIAA) in scoring at 17.4 points per game. In all games he shot 62% from the floor with an overall scoring average of 17.4 ppg. Van Arendonk led the MIAA in field goal shooting (67%) and blocked shots per game (2.3 bpg). Overway, Holwerda and Ray each averaged double-digit minutes per game. Sophomores Matt Parisi of Naperville, Ill. (Benet Academy) and Corey McMahon of Glenview, Ill. (Glenbrook South HS) are products of Hope's junior varsity program. Players new to the program include freshman Brock Benson of Willowbrook, Ill. (Hinsdale South HS), sophomore transfer Caleb Byers of Allegan (Allegan HS). freshman Jordan Denham of Detroit (Southfield Lathrup HS), and freshman Ben Gardner of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS). Three varsity players have fathers who played basketball at Hope -- Grant Neil, son of Matt Neil '82, Josh Holwerda, son of Jim Holwerda '78, and Nate Van Arendonk, son of Craig Van Arendonk '81. The Flying Dutchmen will host two tournaments prior to the start of the conference season, the Thanksgiving weekend Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Classic (Nov. 23-24) and in a combined form the traditional Holland Sentinel/Russ DeVette Tournament (Dec. 7-8). Road action will be hioghlighted by the RDV Division III Classic in Orlando, Fla. on Dec. 20 and Dec. 22.

2011-12 Season Awards
National Honors Court Includes Six Hope Players (7/11/12) Hope players honored (year in school is 2011-12) were junior Josh Holwerda of Gallup, N.M. (rehoboth Christian HS), senior David Krombeen of Grandville (Grandville HS), senior Nate King of Sterling Heights (Henry Ford II HS), senior Logan Neil of Holland (West Ottawa HS), junior Chris Ray of Fort Wayne, Ind. (Homestead HS), and junior Billy Seiler of Chilicotte, Ill. (Illinois Valley Central HS). Krombeen, a psychology major, and Neil, an exercise science/psychology major, were honored for a second time. In order to be named to the Honors Court a student-athlete needed to maintain a cumulative 3.2 or higher grade point average. during the school year.
Hope Remains National Leader in Home Attendance (5/11/12)
Matt Neil Honored as DIII Coach of the Year (3/30/12) The award is named after the longtime Franklin & Marshall basketball coach Glenn Robinson who has over 800 wins and is currently 12th on the all-time collegiate wins list. He has taken F&M to NCAA Division III tournament 22 times. Robinson guided the Diplomats to the Division III Final Four in 1979, 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2009. Neil was also named the NCAA Division III Great Lakes District Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and d3hoops.com. Neil in his first two seasons as coach has led the Flying Dutchmen to back-to-back conference championships and appearances in the NCAA Division III championships. This year's team posted a 27-2 record to improve Neil's two-year mark to 50-9.

David Krombeen Named a First Team All-American (3/15/12) He becomes Hope's seventh alltime NABC Division III All-American, joining Chip Henry (1st team, 1984). Eric Elliott (3rd team, 1990 and 1991); Wade Gugino (3rd team, 1992); Duane Bosma (3rd team, 1995); Joel Holstege (2nd team, 1997 and 1st team, 1998; and Stephen Cramer (3rd team, 2007.) He earlier was named the most valuable player in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and was the leading vote-getter on the NABC Great Lakes Division III all-region team. Krombeen participated in Reese's Division III College Allstar game in Salem, Va., He was an elite group of 19 players chosen by the NABC to play prior to the men's Division III national championship game. Krombeen was a four-year starter. Hope during his career posted a 92-25 record, advancing to the NCAA championships all four years. Krombeen ended as Hope's second alltime leader in career assists (463) and steals (241). He averaged 14.8 point per game this season and ended with a career average of 10.0. He was co-captain of the team as both a junior and senior. This past season he was named the conference player of the week three times.
David Krombeen Leads All-MIAA Basketball Honorees (3/1/12) A four-year starter, Krombeen was co-captain of the Flying Dutchmen as a junior and senior. This season he averaged 15.1 points a game, including 14.7 ppg in conference games. He ranks second alltime at Hope for assists and steals.He becomes the 23rd Hope player to receive MIAA MVP recognition. Among the former MVP honorees was his coach Matt Neil (1982).
