Hope College | Women's Basketball Championship

The DeVos Fieldhouse houses the offices for the department of kinesiology and the college's athletic training program, and is the home court for the volleyball and men's and women's basketball programs. The 102,000 square foot building is located at Fairbanks Avenue south of Ninth Street. The fieldhouse is named for Richard and Helen DeVos in honor of their foundation's leadership gift. The total project cost was $22 million.

The fieldhouse honors Richard and Helen DeVos for their impact on the quality of life in western Michigan, the Holland community and at Hope College. The Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation contributed a $7.5 million anchor gift to the project.
The 102,000 square foot fieldhouse is located at the Eastern Gateway entrance to the Holland community, on Fairbanks Avenue near Eighth and Ninth streets. Part of the property includes the sites of the former Western Foundry and City of Holland Street Department garage.
Extensive use of green space around the facility creates a park-like setting designed to help enhance the visual appeal of the main eastern gateway to downtown and campus.
The college broke ground in late April of 2004. The DeVos Fieldhouse opened for the 2005-06 basketball season.

The kinesiology department and athletic training program moved from the college's Dow Center. The college's intercollegiate swimming and diving program remains headquartered at the Dow. The college's Department of Dance has moved into the former kinesiology offices. The Dow gymnasium has become more available for intramurals and other student use.
Owned and operated by Hope, the fieldhouse serves as a community resource for local events, helping to meet an area-wide need for such space. Designed to seat approximately 3,400 fans for an athletic event, it will also serve as a venue for other college and community events. Among other uses, it is the home court for Holland Christian boy's basketball.
The construction manager was the Dan Vos Construction Co. of Ada, Mich..
The architectural firm was Ellerbe Becket of Kansas City, Mo. Ellerbe Becket is considered one of the nation's leading archiectural firms in the design of spectator arenas with more than 20 NBA and NHL facilities and many college complexes to their credit.
The total project cost was approximately $22 million.
