Flying Dutch Finish Third in NCAA Qualifying Round (4/30/11)

As they did during the regular season, the Flying Dutch finished third in the MIAA's qualifying round which concluded Saturday at the Blackthorn golf course in South Bend. Host Saint Mary's won the three-round playoff to advance to the NCAA Division III championships. The final playoffs standings: 1. Saint Mary's 970, 2. Olivet 994, 3. Hope 1,066, 4. Trine 1,087, 5. Adrian 1,129, 6. Albion 1,130, 7. Alma 1,228. Leading Hope in Saturday's playoff round was Charlotte Park at 87 strokews followed by Lauren Zandstra 89, Emily Atsma 93, Megan Scholten 95 and Katie Blodgett 95.
Flying Dutch Third in NCAA Qualifying Round
The Flying Dutch finished third in the MIAA's qualifying round - the second of three - on Friday at the Blackthorn golf course in South Bend. Host Saint Mary's won the round at 322 strokes, followed by Olivet 331, Hope 355, Trine 362, Adrian 376, Albion 382 and Alma 409. Olivet tops the standings after the second round at 652 strokes followed by Saint Mary's 655, Hope 702, Trine 717, Albion 747, Adrian 749, and Alma 810. The third round will be played Saturday. Scores of Hope golfers in the second round were: Megan Scholten 79, Emily Atsma 91, Lauren Zandstra 92, Charlotte Park 93 and Katie Blodgett 94.
Flying Dutch Third in MIAA's Qualifying Round (4/14/11)
The Flying Dutch finished third in the first of three rounds being sponsored by the MIAA to determine who the conference qualifier will be to the NCAA championships. Olivet won the 18-hole round at The Medalist golf course at 321 strokes followed by Saint Mary's 333, Hope 347, Trine 355, Albion 365, Adrian 373, Alma 401 and Calvin 414. Two 18-hole rounds remain on April 29-30.
Three Olivet golfers shared medalist honor at 80 strokes. Just a stroke behind was Hope's Lauren Zandstra at 41-40--81. Other Hope scores were Charlotte Park 44-42-86, Megan Scholten 42-45--87, Katie Blodgett 46-47--93 and Shali Clark 46-48--94.
Flying Dutch Win Own Invitational (4/11/11)
The Flying Dutch won their own invitational leading the five team field over the Wuskowhan Players Club. Coach Greg Stafford's Dutch finished 17 strokes ahead of runnerup Albion. The medalist was Abby Hagen of Aquinas at 76 strokes. Hope had four golfers finish in the 80s led by Megan Scholten at 81 strokes.

Flying Dutch Compete in First Spring Tournament (4/9/11)
The Flying Dutch compete in a 36-hole tournament hosted by St. Francis College this weekend. Division II Findlay won the tournament at 625 strokes followed by Bethel, Ind. 630, St. Francis 664, Aquinas 725, Trine 734 and Hope 736. The scores of Hope players were: Megan Scholten 87-87--174, Lauren Zandstra 92-90--182, Shali Clark 97-89--186, Charlotte Park 96-91--187, Maggie Mangan 93-101--194, Mary Bradley 105-95 -- 200, Katie Blodgett 95-106--201, and Rachelle Havenaar 111-104--215.
2010 Fall Season in Review
Flying Dutch Finish Third in MIAA (10/9/10)
For the third consecutive year the Flying Dutch have finished third in the seasonal MIAA standings. Coach Greg Stafford's Flying Dutch were third in the season-ending tournament this weekend. Two golfers, juniors Lauren Zandstra (Flushing/Flushing HS) and Megan Scholten (Grand Rapids/GR Christian HS), achieved All-MIAA honors with seasonal stroke averages of 85.4 and 86.0 respectively.
Flying Dutch Finish Third (Again) in MIAA Jamboree (10/2/10)
For the fourth consecutive time the Flying Dutch have finished third in an MIAA jamboree. This time it came on Saturday at Adrian's Lenawee Country Club. League-leading Saint Mary's won the 18-hole round at 325 strokes, followed by Olivet 345, Hope 356, Trine 362, Adrian 369, Albion 373, Calvin 396, Alma 407 and Kalamazoo 420. The medalist was Rosie O'Connor of Saint Mary's at 78 strokes. Leading Hope was Charlotte Park at 86, followed by Emily Atsma 87, Andrea McCarty 91, Megan Scholten 92 and Lauren Zandstra 93.
With two rounds remaining in the loeague season, Saint Mary's has a 24 stroke lead over second place Olivet, 1,324-1,348. Hope follows at 1,399. Megan Scholten and Lauren Zandstra rank seventh (86.0) and eighth (86.3) respectively in the player standings.
Flying Dutch Third in MIAA Jamboree (9/29/10)
The Flying Dutch finished third in a tightly contested MIAA Jamboree on Wednesday. Host Olivet won the 18-hole round by just two strokes over league-leading Saint Mary's and four ahead of the Flying Dutch. Hope remains a solid third in the seasonal standings.
The medalist was Amber Conrad of Olivet at 79 strokes. Leading Hope was Megan Scholten with an 81, followed by Lauren Zandstra 83, Emily Atsma 89, Charlotte Park 92 and Katie Blodgett 94.
Flying Dutch Fifth in Invitational (9/25/10)
The Flying Dutch finished finished fifth in the two-day, 36-hole Olivet Invitational. Topping the 12-team field was Wheaton at 686 strokes. Hope totaled 704. Leading Hope was captain Megan Scholten at 87-82--169. Next were Charlotte Park 91-85--176, Emily Atsma 90-90--180, Katie Blodgett 90-91--181, and Lauren Zandstra 94-89--183.
Flying Dutch Third at Bethel Invite (9/18/10)
The Flying Dutch finished third in the two-day, 36-hole Bethel Invitational. Host Bethel led the 10-team field followed by Wheaton and Hope. Scores of Hope golfers for the two rounds were: Emily Atsma 84-77--161, Megan Scholten 80-83--163, Andrea McCarty 85-80--165, Katie Blodgett 85-85--170 and Lauren Zandstra 84-97--181.
Flying Dutch Third After First Day of Tournament (9/17/10)
The Flying Dutch are third among 10 teams at the Bethel College Invitational after Friday's first round. The tournament continues Saturday. Host Bethel tops the standings at 309 strokes, followed by Wheaton, Ill. 329 and Hope 332. Hope's scores in the team entry were Megan Scholten 80, Emily Atsma 84, Lauren Zandstra 84, Katie Blodgett 85 and Andrea McCarty 85. Charlotte Park led Hope's entries with a 75. Other scores were Maggie Mangan 88, Shali Clark 86, Mary Bradley 110 and Rachelle Havenaar 112.
Flying Dutch Remain in Third in MIAA Standings (9/14/10)
The Flying Dutch finished third for the second consecutive MIAA Jamboree in competition Tuesday hosted by Calvin at the Thornapple Pointe golf course. Saint Mary's won the jamboree to move into first place in the league standings. The Belles finished the 18-hole round at 321 strokes, followed by Olivet 331, Hope 345, Albion 355, Trine 370, Adrian 373, Alma 373, Calvin 419 and Kalamazoo 436. The jamboree medalist was Mary Kate Boyce of Saint Mary's at 78 strokes. Leading Hope was Lauren Zandstra at 83 strokes followed by Megan Scholten 84, Emily Atsma 86, Katie Blodgett 92 and Charlotte Park 95. The standings after two jamborees are: 1. Saint Mary's 656, 2. Olivet 662, 3. Hope 698, 4. Albion 720, 5. Trine 727, 6. Alma 742, 7. Adrian 745, 7. Calvin 785 and Kalamazoo 880.

The Flying Dutch finished third in the season's first conference jamboree on Saturday. Olivet led the nine-team field over Alma's Pine River course at 331 strokes while
Saint Mary's finished four strokes off the pace. Hope totaled 353 strokes. Leading Hope was Lauren Zandstra at 86 strokes followed by
Megan Scholten 87, Emily Atsma 90, Charlotte Park 90, Katie Blodgett 91 and Andrea McCarty 94.
Flying Dutch Win Season-Opening Match (9/7/10)
The nationally ranked Flying Dutch launched their season by winning a triangular over the wind-swept Macatawa Legends golf course on Tuesday. With the wind gusting to more than 40 miles-an-hour throughout the match, coach Greg Stafford's Dutch covered the 18-hole round in 360 strokes while MIAA rival Calvin had 401 and Rochester, Mich. 429. Senior Katie Blodgett led the Dutch at 84 strokes followed by Emily Atsma 91, Megan Scholten 92, Lauren Zandstra 93 and Charlotte Park 99. Scores of other Hope golfers were Maggie Mangan 96, Andrea McCarty 97,Mary Bradley 105 and Rachelle Havenaar 116.
