Hope Players Honored for Inaugural Season (5/7/13)
The inaugural Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) all-conference lacrosse teams include seven players from Hope College. Introduced at Hope as a varsity sport this spring, both teams qualified for the first-ever conference tournament. The Flying Dutch were third in the regular season women's standings while the Flying Dutchmn finished fourth in the men's race.

Named to their respective All-MIAA first teams are junior attack Jacob Kamstra, pictured left, of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS),junior midfielder Katie Sabourin, pictured center, of Flint (Powers Catholic HS) and sophomore defender Molly Greenfield, pictured right, of Georgetown, Tex. Second team honorees are senior attack Maddie Ferguson of Seattle, Wash. (Seattle Prep HS)., senior attack Josh Kamstra of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS), junior midfield offense Niko Pagkanlungan of Naples, Fla. (Barron Collier HS) and junior face off specialist Michael Schofield of Chester, N.J. (Mendham HS).

Flying Dutch Gain Overtime Victory (4/27/13)

The Flying Dutch gained the third seed in the conference tournament by scoring a 12-11 overtime victory against visiting Trine. With a five-game winning streak, coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch went 3-3 in the inaugural MIAA season and with head to post-season play Thursday at Alma with a 6-8 overall mark. The game winner was scored by Maddie Ferguson in the second overtime period. She and teammate Katie Sabourin each scored four goals in the game.

Sweep of Rival Calvin Clinches Tournament Berths (4/24/13)
Both Hope lacrosse teams clinched a berth in their respective MIAA tournament by defeating rival Calvin on Wednesday. The four-team conference tournament next week will determine who represents the MIAA in its inaugural lacrosse season at the NCAA championships. Both Hope teams are in third place with one league game remaining.
Women: Hope 10, Calvin 4: Tied 2-2 at halftime, the Flying Dutch outscored the Knights 8-2 the rest of the way to improve to 3-2 in conference games and 5-8 overall. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Flying Dutch featured a balanced scoring attack led by Katie Sabourin's four goals. Maddie Ferguson added three goals followed by Molly Greenfield with two and Laurie Stubenrauch one. Credited with assists were Ally DeMaagd, Greenfield and Emily Oliver. Each team had 25 shots. Goalkeeper Raquel Harrouk was credited with nine saves.
Men: Hope 20, Calvin 5: Ten Hope players put the ball into the net as the Flying Dutchmen held a 53-19 advantage in shots. Hope led 13-1 at the halftime break. Jacob Kamstra scored six goals and was also credited with four assists. Caleb Digison added three goals followed by Austin Krehel 2, Nicklas Raycraft 2, Clint Lyders 3, Niko Pagkanlungan 1, Parker Osterink 1, Connor Smith 1, Peter Stuckey 1, and Andrew Johnson 1. Pagkanlungan assisted on three goals. Goalkeepers Ben Weber and Daniel Flavin combined for eight saves. Coach Michael Schanhals Dutchmen improved to 8-3 overall and are 3-2 in MIAA play.

Flying Dutch Extend Winning Streak (4/20/13)

The Flying Dutch extended their winning streak to three with an 18-12 conference victory over host Albion on Saturday. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch improved to 2-2 in the MIAA and are 4-8 overall. The Flying Dutch are tied for third place in the MIAA with two league games remaining. The top four teams in the standings will advance to the conference tournament. Senior Maddie Ferguson scored a school-record nine goals on just 12 shots. Katie Sabourin added three goals while Heather Wierenga scored twice. Goalkeepers Racquel Harrouck and Jessica Donnell combined for five saves.

Flying Dutch Gain Home Field Victory (4/16/13)

Teammates Katie Sabourin and Maddie Ferguson each tied the Hope single game scoring mark as the Flying Dutch defeated Siena Heights 22-10 Tuesday. The Flying Dutch have a 3-8 season record, including 2-1 on their home field. Scoring seven goals each, Sabourin and Ferguson joined teammate Molly Greenfield who also scored seven times in an earlier game. Hope led 12-4 at halftime and finished with a 41-24 advantage in shots. Greenfield and Delilah Clement each scored three times while Heather Wierenga and Olivia Keinath had one apiece. Ferguson also had four assists. Goalkeeper Racquel Harrouk was credited with six saves.

MIAA Honors Two Hope Players (4/15/13)
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named Hope midfielders Molly Greenfield (offense) and Katie Sabourin (defense) its women's lacrosse Players of the Week. Greenfield, a sophomore from Georgetown, Tex. (Georgetown HS), set a Hope school record with seven goals and added an assist in leading the Flying Dutch to its first MIAA victory, a 19-6 win over Olivet. She also had two ground balls and caused a turnover. Sabourin (pictured left), a junior from Flint (Powers Catholic HS), had a strong all around week as the Flying Dutch split a pair of MIAA games. She had four goals, five ground balls, six draw controls and caused two turnovers in Hope’s win over Olivet. She also had three goals and two ground balls in a loss to Adrian. Both are being honored as a Player of the Week for the first time in their career.

The Flying Dutch recorded their first-ever MIAA victory Saturday topping visiting Olivet 19-6. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch improved to 1-2 in conference matches and are 2-8 overall. Sophomore Molly Greenfield scored a school-record seven goals. Maddie Ferguson added five goals while Katie Sabourin had four. Hope led 15-3 at halftime and finished with a 32-18 advantage in shots. Goalkeeper Racquel Harrouk was credited with eight saves.

Flying Dutch Suffer Road Loss to Adrian (4/10/13)

MIAA frontrunner Adrian defeated the Flying Dutch 22-5 on Wednesday. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Flying Dutch are 0-2 in conference games and have a 1-8 season record. Three minutes into the game Hope was ahead 3-1 on a pair of goals by Katie Sabourin and one by Laurie Stubenrauch. The teams were tied 3-3 at the eight-minute mark. Adrian built their lead to 13-4 at halftime with Hope's fourth goal coming from Sabourin. Hope would not score again until there was one minute left in the game. Adrian (10-2) held a 44-11 advantage in shots. Hope goalkeepers Racquel and Jessica Donnell combined for 10 saves.

Opening of Conference Play Has Mixed Results (4/2/13)

Hope's lacrosse teams marked their inaugural conference games with mixed results on Tuesday. The Flying Dutchmen gained a 21-2 road victory over the Alma Scots while the Flying Dutch suffered a 14-8 loss to the visiting Scots.

MEN: The Flying Dutchmen improved to 6-1 on the season behind a strong start Hope led 4-0 after the first period and expanded it to 15-1 at halftime. Josh Kamstra scored six goals while Jacob Kamstra tallied five and added four assists. Caleb Digison scored four goals and was credited with five assists while Niko Pagkanlungan had both four goals and four assists. Scoring single goals were Nicklas Raycraft and Austin Krehel. Hope held a 59-15 advantage in shots. Goalkeepers Ben Weber and Andrew Johnson combined for seven saves.

WOMEN: The visiting Scots got off to a fast start gaining a six-goal advantage at halftime. The teams matched goal-for-goal in the second half. Molly Greenfield scored three times and had an assist for the Flying Dutch while Laurie Stubenrauch put two in the net and assisted on another. Scoring single goals were Maddie Ferguson, Katie Sabourin and Ally DeMaagd. The Flying Dutch out-shot the Scots 31-27 and won 18-of-24 faceoffs. Goalkeepers Racquel Harrouk and Jessica Donnell split time and each allowed seven goals and was credited with five saves. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch have a 1-7 season record.

Flying Dutch Bow in Non-Conference Finale (3/29/13)

In their final tuneup before launching the inaugural season of conference play, the Flying Dutch were defeated by host Aquinas 16-10 on Thursday. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch have a 1-6 record heading into their MIAA debut next Tuesday at home against Alma. Aquinas held a 7-5 halftime advantage behind a 22-11 advantage in shots. In the second half the Saints' shots advantage was just 19-17. Molly Greenfield and Maddie Ferguson each scored four goals while adding one apiece were Laurie Stubenrauch and Katie Sabourin. Ally DeMaagd, Alicia Curmi and Sabourin each had an assist. Goalkeeper Racquel Harrouk was credited with 16 saves.

Flyng Dutch Post First Collegiate Victory (3/27/13)

The Flying Dutch marked their first home game by celebrating Hope's first collegiate women's lacrosse victory with a 22-1 rout over Loras, Iowa on Tuesday. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch improved to 1-5 on the season. Hope totally dominated the field as twelve players scored a goal behind a 40-3 advajntage in shot. The Flying Dutch led 18-0 at halftime. Molly Greenfield and Katie Sabourin each scored four goals while Olivia Keinath, Emily Oliver and Alicia Curmi scored two apiece. Scoring single goals were Laurie Stubenrauch, Maddie Ferguson, Stephanie Rogers, Makenzie Bortell, Ally DeMaagd, Olivia Husbands and Heather Wiewrenga. Goalkeeper Jessica Donnell had two saves.

First Collegiate Victory Continues to Elude Dutch (3/22/13)

Undefeated Denison (4-0) kept the Flying Dutch winless (0-4) in posting a 17-1 victory on Friday. The Big Red held an 11-0 halftime lead. Hope's lone goal was scored unassisted by Molly Greenfield. Goalkeepers Racquel Harrouk and Jessica Donnell combined for 13 saves.

MIAA Honors Hope Senior Player
Hope midfielder Maddie Ferguson, a senior from Seattle, Wash. (Seattle Prep HS), is the MIAA women's lacrosse player of the week. Ferguson scored five goals on seven shots, and also scooped up five ground balls, in the Flying Dutch’s 10-9 loss to Calvin in the first-ever varsity women’s lacrosse meeting between the two schools. She is being honored as an MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season.

Flying Dutch Still Pursuing First Collegiate Victory (3/20/13)

Flying Dutch Continue Pursuing First Collegiate Win (3/17/13)

First Colleague Victory Eludes Dutch by a Goal (3/14/13)

Hope's first collegiate women's lacrosse victory remained elusive Thursday as the Flying Dutch were edged by rival Calvin 10-9. Fortunately, the game was considered non-conference with a league rematch scheduled for later in the season. Coach Tracy Benjamin's Dutch have an 0-2 record heading into their first-ever spring break trip in the coming days.
Calvin held the lead the entire way. The Knights were ahead 5-3 at the halftime break. Hope scored the first goal of the second half, but Calvin responded with four answered goals to take command. Hope scored three straight to cut the margin to a goal, 10-9, with five minutes remaining, but that would end up being the final score. Maddie Ferguson scored five goals for the Flying Dutch while Katie Sabourin had three and Heather Wierenga added one. Calvin held a 31-27 advantage in shots. Jessica Donnell and Racquel Harrouk were each in goal for one half/ They combined for 11 saves.

Flying Dutch Bow in Collegiate Debut (3/8/13)

Host Augustana spoiled Hope's collegiate women's lacrosse debut Friday night defeating the Flying Dutch 20-4 in Rock Island, Ill. Scoring single goals for the Flying Dutch, who were out-shot 38-13, were Maddie Ferguson, Katie Sabourin, Linnea Ridlen and Alicia Crumm. Goalkeepers Jessica Donnell and Racquel Harrouck combined for 12 saves. Augustana jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Ferguson scored Hope's first-ever collegiate goal eight minutes into the contest. The Vikings led 12-2 at halftime.
