Favorite Memory: Food is one way to experience a culture. In Morocco, food is often at the center of the family. Meals are eaten together around one plate, using bread or khobz as a utensil. There is a simple etiquette to eating a Moroccan meal. You eat with the right hand using the first two fingers and the thumb. You take food from your section of the plate and you finish by drinking out of the same cup. Upon first glance, it seems as though every American rule of table etiquette is being broken: eating with the hands, talking with mouths full of food, belching out loud. But then you realize, after initial horror, that it’s a lot more fun this way.
