Departmental Publications

Departmental publications are exactly what they sound like - publications in which the content is generated by one or more members of the faculty and the production is overseen by that person, group or department. Production costs are handled through the department account and then the finished product is delivered to the bookstore. If we handle a departmental publication, we will need the following information:

  • Author(s) and Title of the publication.
  • What course this publication is for.
  • Department contact name and phone number or email.
  • Department number to be credited for the copies sold.
  • Amount you/the department wishes to receive per book sold.

We will then do a retail markup and sell the book at our store along with the regular textbooks. At the end of the semester, the bookstore credits the specified account number for copies sold and returns unsold books to the department. If your material is a departmental publication, the above information can be included on your textbook adoption form. Otherwise, please contact our textbook manager, Mary, at deenik@hope.edu or extension x2576, so that she will have the information necessary to get the book to your students as soon as it arrives

Important Note: We advise that all those who create departmental publications make the effort to deliver the master copies to the Copy Center 3-5 weeks before the semester begins to avoid the backlog of syllabi and other material that must be copied at the beginning of each semester. This ensures the books will be ready for your students on time.
