PROSPECT CAMPS (TWO DATES AVAILABLE)

Camp Features

  • Excellent instruction by Hope College Head Coach Peter Stuursma and his outstanding coaching staff, and present Hope College football players
  • Use of Hope College exceptional athletic facilities
  • Low camper to coach ratio to ensure individual attention
  • Qualified first responder on site at all times in case of injury

Camp is geared toward advanced players who want to refine their individual skills and master team concepts in a fast-paced and demanding atmosphere. Players will be instructed in the fundamentals that make top players.

Camp Schedule

9:00 - 9:30 a.m. - Registration/Check-In at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium
9:30-11:30 a.m. - Field Session/Testing
11:45 - 12:30 p.m. - Lunch at Phelps Dining Hall
12:30 - 1:15 p.m. - Presentation by Coaching Staff/Players
1:15 - 1:30 p.m. - Departure from Ray and Sue Smith Stadium

Camp Features

  • Use of state of the art DeVos Fieldhouse weightroom and Dow Center pool during free time

  • Meals served in an all-you-can-eat cafeteria
  • Overnight campers will be housed in residence halls located on Hope's Campus

Camp is geared toward advanced players who want to refine their individual skills and master team concepts in a fast-paced and demanding atmosphere. Players will be instructed in the fundamentals that make top players, and they will learn the importance of leadership and sportsmanship. Camp will enhance each player's knowledge of reading defensive sets, playing a zone defense, reading offensive keys, and team passing concepts. All players receive individual attention and instruction on offensive and defensive skills. Camp will feature several games, daily passing leagues, one-on-one exercises, and access to top flight weight training facilities.

11:00 - Highlight Video/Presentation
12:00 - 12:45 - Lunch at Phelps Dining Hall
1:00 - Meet outside Phelps hall to walk down to Football Stadium
1:30 - 3:30 - Field Session
4:30 - Swimming at Dow Center
6:00 - Dinner at Phelps Dining Hall
7:00 - Field session
9:00 - Dorm

Tuesday, July 26
8:00 - Breakfast
9:00 - 11:00 - Field Session
11:30-12:00 - Check Out

 

Eligibility

The camp is open to students entering grades 8 through 12 in July 2016. In accordance with NCAA regulations, a high school graduate is ineligible to attend a summer camp of this sort. All MHSAA guidelines for sports camps will be observed.

What to bring to camp

Sneakers, grass football shoes, 6 T-shirts, 6 pairs of shorts, 6 pairs of socks, 3 supporters, swim trunks, toiletries, underwear, towels, and bed linens. A fan is optional, but a good idea.

Lodging & Meals

Campers will be housed in residence halls, located on the campus. These rooms provide comfort and enjoyment consistent with quality living conditions. Meals are served in our all-you-can-eat cafeteria.

Transportation

Each camper is responsible for his own transportation to and from Hope College. Campers who drive themselves must turn in their keys to the camp director after unloading their belongings at the residence hall. Their keys will be returned on Tuesday afternoon. Failure to turn in keys may result in dismissal from the camp.
