July 27 - 29, 2008

2008 Skilled Position and Lineman Camp Brochure

Eligibility
The camp is open to students entering grades 9 through 12 in September 2008. In accordance with NCAA regulations, a high school graduate is ineligible to attend a summer camp of this sort. All MHSAA guidelines for sports camps will be observed.

Individual Instruction
The camp will be staffed at the ratio of approximately one coach for each 7 to 10 campers by Coach Kreps, the entire coaching staff of Hope College and by outstanding high school coaches. Individual attention will be emphasized.

Team Offense & Defense
Come as an individual or participate as a team unit! The development of individual skills is the primary objective of the camp experience. Football is a TEAM game. Such team concepts as how to read defensive sets, how to play zone defense, team passing concepts, and how to read offensive keys will be stressed. There will be a daily passing league.

Developing Football Interest
Our most important objective is to build desire within each camper. Desire is built through lectures, intensive drills, and competition. The pace is quick and demanding, but you will return home with increased knowledge and a greater desire to become a top player.

What to bring to camp
Sneakers, grass football shoes, 6 T-shirts, 6 pairs of shorts, 6 pairs of socks, 3 supporters, swim trunks, toiletries, underwear, towels, and bed linens. A fan is optional, but a good idea.

Lodging & Meals
Campers will be housed in residence halls, located on the campus. These rooms provide comfort and enjoyment consistent with quality living conditions. Meals are served in our all-you-can-eat cafeteria.

Transportation
Each camper is responsible for his own transportation to and from Hope College. Campers who drive themselves must turn in their keys to the camp director after unloading their belongings at the residence hall. Their keys will be returned on Tuesday afternoon. Failure to turn in keys may result in dismissal from the camp.

Directions to Hope College
Hope College exits are marked on the I-196 Expressway (Exit 52, Adams St.). For exact directions please go to the Hope College directions page.

Registration
Campers will register from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday in the DeVos Fieldhouse classrooms, located at 222 Fairbanks Avenue. Instructions will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
