Beginning October 8, 2009, Comcast will start migrating some channels to digital service. All expanded basic channels (channels 31 and higher) will be delivered digitally by the end of October. Your TV(s) will need a special digital adapter box in order to receive these digital channels. Without this digital adapter box, channels that have been converted to digital service will be unavailable. Read the letter Comcast sent to Hope College (pdf) Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my digital adapter? Students in these locations should email hope_college@cable.comcast.com or call 616-977-2158 to schedule an appointment. At least one person from the residence must be present during the installation appointment. Read the email sent to cottage and apartment residents on 9/25 (pdf). Read the second reminder email sent on 10/1 (pdf). Residence Halls, College East and Brumler Apartments: Other campus locations will have digital converter boxes delivered on the following schedule:
Why are we being asked to have these adapters installed? These changes will enable Comcast to increase HD programming and offer more entertainment options. Is the digital adapter box mine to keep? Comcast will deliver and install (1) digital adapter box, (1) remote, (1) power cord and (1) coax cable. These are the property of Hope College and must remain in the residence after students move out. Missing digital adapter box(es) and associated equipment will be charged back to the residents accordingly.
Will my channel numbers change? No. The channel numbers will stay the same. I have my digital adapter, but it's not working correctly. Call 1-800-COMCAST.
