Adding a link in Moodle
to a Van Wylen Library
Online Resource
Link to an Online Database or Resource
Because Van Wylen Library Online Resources are available only through the Van Wylen Library system, additional information needs to be inserted in any hyperlinks from Moodle to the resource.
This allows the facilitator to create a direct link to the resource rather than makeing a copy to post to Moodle.
- Visit the Van Wylen Library website.
- Select Databases
- Locate the database and subsequent article you wish to post.
- Visit the resource you wish to post.
- In your browser, highlight the URL (the web address at the top of your browser), right click and select copy.
- Paste the URL in your Moodle document.
example:
http://portal.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi/wos?Init=Yes&SID=2DnAadMgIp46mkja6Hd
- To make the URL accessible from Moodle you need to change the URL in two places;
- add 0- (zero and the minus sign) to the beginning of the website information and
- add .lib.hope.edu (period, lib, period, hope, period, edu) to the end of the website information.
- Example:
http://0-portal.isiknowledge.com.lib.hope.edu/portal.cgi/wos?Init=Yes&SID=2DnAadMgIp46mkja6Hd
