The Martial Arts class at Hope College combines Korean-style Tae Kwon Do and Okinawan-style Kempo karate. Both are martial arts that incorporate a wide range of hand and foot techniques for self-defense and physical/personal development. In the class you will develop strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, and you will learn some of the philosophical bases of eastern martial arts as they pertain to self-defense. The class currently consists of Hope college students, faculty, staff and parents and their children (ages 7 and up).

This class is co-taught by Tim Evans and Greg Fraley. Tim Evans holds a first-degree black belt in Kempo and has instructed various classes since 1995. Greg Fraley is a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do and has also been teaching martial arts since 1996.
